Conrad Gustafson has been training Aikido since January 1996 and holds the rank of nidan (second-degree black belt) awarded by Aikikai Foundation (Aikido World Headquarters) in Japan.

He began training in Calgary with Yasuhisa Inaba Shihan. In 2001 Conrad relocated to Victoria and joined Victoria Aikikai, training under Scott Macphail Sensei. In 2003 Conrad started an Aikido program for young children at the James Bay Community Centre, which is still in operation under the direction of San Shu Kan Aikido Dojo in James Bay. In 2007 Conrad started Victoria Family Aikido, an Aikido school for children and adults to train together. His own children, aged 10 and 7 train with him.

Conrad Gustafson continues to pursue Aikido training diligently under the direction of Kazuo Igarashi Shihan, technical director of Calgary Aikikai.
